I'm a Mormon

I think being a bi-sexual Mormon is the hardest thing I have ever had to deal with and I think it will continue to be my hardest trial. But I wouldn't change that for anything! My sexuality is a huge part of who I am. It has shaped how I look at the world, how I act around others, and what kind of wife and mother I am and will be. Although I can't recall all of the shocking things that have been said to me by fellow Mormons and Christians I can give you a sampling. One particular incident that I am reminded of is when I was in singles ward. I had only been in the ward for a week or two and it was my first time attending the Monday night group activity. I was quietly sitting to the side waiting for the meeting to start and I over heard two young men talking about their missions. Their conversation turned toward one particular woman and the taller of the two young men began to express his confusion and frustration at the fact that this woman wanted desperately to join the church but "refused to quit liking girls". I turned to the young man and quietly stated that she could not stop liking girls anymore than he could grow an extra nose. I told them I was bi-sexual and began to explain that being gay is not a temptation but a trial of how to accept yourself while still standing true to your values and being strong in your faith of Gods plan. I was not halfway through my first sentence when he cut me off with "You know gay people can't get into heaven and you aren't going to find a good husband if you keep liking girls". I left early that night, and though I was hurt I was more confused as to why we could believe in the same church and have such different images of God. The God I prayed to wouldn't keep me out of heaven for something I couldn't control, he would welcome me to heaven for dealing with that trial as best as I could. The God I loved wouldn't reject hundreds of people for something that was a part of their identity. I am going to heaven because my God is a loving God who accepts me for who I am. I am going to heaven because I am continually striving to be the best person that I can be. I love God and I know that he loves me for who I am.
Who am I?
I am a wife.
I am a mother.
I am bi-sexual.
I am a Mormon.
